China Study

There is no end to the battles over what diet is the best. Not weighing (pun intended) in on that -- just sharing a bit about this title.

There is no end to the battles over what diet is the best. Not weighing (pun intended) in on that -- just sharing a bit about this title.

I was introduced to this title by a long time friend who had made some significant shifts in his eating habits. Being an Audible Addict and learning that the book was available on audio, I had a listen.

In this title, T. Colin Campbell, a Cornell University Professor, unpacks his research related to the consumption of animal proteins and health outcomes.

Here is the short version:

No Dairy

No Meat

Basically a Vegan diet, minus all the highly processed junk that we think might be "healthy for us". And minus the politics. I have nothing against leather shoes, for example.

The name of the diet, because let's face it, everything MUST have a name, is Whole Food Plant Based, or WFPB. Not a catchy acronym but a great idea which is hard to argue against. Again, not here to argue on a diet. I have only my own skin in the game.

If it's plant based, not highly processed, you can likely eat it.

The fact that cows eat plants does not qualify as plant-based, in case you were wondering.

Quick question -- what food do you think of when you think "Vitamin C"?

.....

Oranges, right?

Well, there is certainly Vitamin C in oranges, but much of what we think of is what the food industry has marketed to us.

There are lots of other sources of Vitamin C without nearly the same sugar shock.

This and other fun things you will learn in this book.
